ABOUT KIMBERLY
“The greatest sources of our suffering are the lies we tell ourselves.”
(Bessel van der Kolk MD, The Body Keeps the Score)
Kimberly Reese is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist who specializes in treating trauma in Black people. She is also a Certified Enneagram Coach, Certified Clini-Coach®, and an expert in Black Agency. Kimberly is the host of Enneagram for the Culture, a podcast exploring the intersections of the Enneagram, Black identity, and healing.
Raised in Durham, North Carolina, Kimberly is a proud alumna of the historic Hillside High School. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from Meredith College and completed her Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Kimberly has been in practice for 16 years, working across community-based mental health, healthcare, and nonprofit sectors. Her career has remained rooted in trauma specialization, serving primarily Black clients. She is trained in evidence-based models such as EMDR, ACT, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), and integrates somatic work and faith-liberating practices into her clinical approach.
She is the founder of The Reese Collective—a virtual collective of healing resources for Black people. Originally launched as a group practice, The Reese Collective has since evolved into a broader hub for therapy, consulting, and accessible mental wellness tools. Kimberly also leads Faith Forward Services, a faith-liberation initiative supporting both individual healing from religious harm and church communities seeking to create spiritually and emotionally safe spaces.
Through her work, Kimberly merges faith, clinical expertise, and cultural humility to create healing environments that are trauma-informed, spiritually grounded, and unapologetically Black. She is deeply committed to shifting the culture of mental health for Black communities by increasing access to quality, culturally resonant care.
Her work is inspired by Matthew 17:20—“If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.” Kimberly carries this truth into every session, workshop, and conversation. She is often described as purposeful, tenacious, and blessed by the work she does.
For fun, you’ll find her working on her jump shot, cooking to a soundtrack of R&B and gospel with a glass of wine, or practicing the radical act of rest with a good book. Her life and leadership reflect what’s possible when your heart is in the right place and your vision is divinely guided.
